A truly alternative space that has been managed by an artist collective since 1979, PS122 Gallery provides emerging artists and curators with a platform upon which to present their work. It is comprised of two spaces within an old public school – the Main Gallery and the Classroom – in which ten exhibitions are presented annually.  The exhibitions that are selected by the organization’s jury are typically thought provoking and engaging, and are based on the goodwill and spirit of volunteerism—an increasingly crucial driving force in today’s nonprofit arena.
