The Millard Sheets Center for the Arts at Fairplex seeks an experienced preparator to lead in the
installation and de-installation of a photography exhibit to show at the L.A. County Fair in Pomona. Installation dates are August 11-15, 2008 and some additional dates may be required. Exhibition dates are September 5-28. De-installation dates are September 30 - October 4. Working hours are approximately 10am-5pm.

Responsibilities: The prep will be responsible for moving and re-painting pedestals, installing glass and plexiglass vitrines and cases, unpacking and repacking artwork, applying vinyl, installing photographs and lighting. Expertise in lighting installation preferred.

Qualifications: Candidate must be able to complete work according to schedule, have clear and professional communication skills, be an effective troubleshooter, and be able to lead/manage other staff working on the exhibit. Must be familiar with and observe safety standards when operating a lift, tools and machinery. Must be very detail-oriented, particularly when handling fragile artwork.

All equipment will be provided. The selected candidate would meet with the Photography Coordinator once prior to the start of installation to review the exhibit layout, design, schedule and to make a list of additional materials needed.

Pay will be based upon experience and references.
