Nestled amongst Chelsea’s mix of auto repair shops, low-key bars, and high-end galleries, Printed Matter is one of the longest-standing non-profit organizations devoted solely to artists’ publications.  Founded in Tribeca in 1976, Printed Matter now features a full exhibition program, consulting services to libraries and art institutions, a reading room, publishing opportunities for emerging artists, and a distribution venue for unique book-based projects.  Over time, this establishment has become a pivotal educational resource, as well as a site where a community can come together around a shared interest and belief in the affect of the book.
