A Boy Scout Jamboree At Subliminal Projects http://www.laimyours.com/46608/a-boy-scout-jamboree-at-subliminal-projects/ " Duane Paul’s huge sculpture of various colored, fragmented scouts have similar effects. Paul’s piece hints at a less overt theme in the show, one that gets outside of the organization’s anti-gay agenda: minorities in American boy scouts have only existed on the margins. His colorful and quietly confrontational figures hit every element of the show–rainbows, black bodies, whit... [more]

Amateur graffiti and petty vandalism designate adolescent rebellion at its finest: School Night stages the aftermath of an illicit late night game of Crazy Golf and is the spatially dominant centerpiece of Texan collective OKAY MOUNTAIN’S first Los Angeles solo exhibition at Mark Moore... Buffing censorship at Crewest Sadly Los Angeles is not unfamiliar with censorship. Mexican muralist David A. Siqueiros’ América Tropical was whitewashed in 1932 because the mural was “unpleasant” and it did not fit the civic leaders’ idea of the romantic and idealized past they wanted to convey to the tourists arriving at El Pueblo de Los Angeles. It is unfortunate that seventy-eight years later artists are still facing censorship. Writers, photographers, artists, academics, and art historians j... [more]

Craig Goodworth offers the evidence of a body of work that spans the last five years of his life in diverse geographic environments.  Although noted as being in one gallery space, the work [which includes objects, drawings and video installation] can be found hanging, standing, or resting on shelves, the floor and pedestals, or leaning about in two separate galleries, a modified closet and throughout the length of a two hundred foot hallway for the next few days.  It's as if there is too much to... The Art of di.Lo is Matter, light, sign, integrated in an original figure of painting.
