January’s shaping up to be quite an exciting month, and I wouldn’t expect anything less since it is now officially “National Drag History Month” (did you know?).
Appropriately enough, I just finished a new painting called "The Cher Within," honoring drag queens and the inner diva in all of us. The piece is for an exhibit curated by RuPaul in Hollywood that opens on Thursday at the WOW Gallery in Hollywood. Check out my contribution (which is available as a limited-edition giclee print) here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=19666140
Here are some other upcoming shows I'll be participating in:
• "Ohio Art League Spring Juried Exhibition" (juror: David Pagel, LA Times art critic) at the OSU Urban Arts Space in Columbus, Opening January 30 ~Featuring: "Elegant Imbalance" - http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=14745611
• “The Dirty Show” at Bert's Warehouse Theater in Detroit, Opening February 6~Featuring: "Room With a View" - http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16952825
• "Sweet & Low: Optimism in a Pessimistic Age" at Gallery Arcane in San Francisco, Opening February 13 ~Featuring: "Noah's Gay Wedding Cruise" (work in progress!)
And last but not least, my new book, "Ins and Outs" was recently reviewed by "Out in America": http://www.outinamerica.com/Arts/books.asp?article=7963. The book is available in softcover and hardcover editions here: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/477937
I have a few other projects on the horizon, but I'll save those for another e-mail. In the meantime, happy Drag History Month -- don’t forget to get in touch with your inner divas!
