DESCRIPTION

Gallerie Alternatives, first of its kind at DLF Qutab Enclave, Gurgaon was inaugurated in Jan. 99. A close interaction with each of the artists has led towards a good selection of works .The exhibitions are received very well by local people, art critics and media. Fine Art and Theatre workshops are organized by the help of Artists – Kavita Jaiswal and Rajeev Gaursingh in their respective fields which opened up horizons for children. The children interacted freely with artists. In April 2001 there was the Alternatives-British Council and Cambridge University collaboration on- the - spot painting competition where participation was so high, that the participants had to be divided into three categories. In Oct. 2002 Gallerie Alternatives in collaboration with HSBC Bank had an exhibition of leading artists of India at their premium branch in Gurgaon.

In Jan. 2003 the gallery hosted an Indo-Danish Painters Meet introducing four senior Danish artists – Anne Vilsboell, Else Husted Kjaer, Lone Lindorff and Hellen Lassen curated by Mona Lauridson & Fawad Tamkanat along with four Indian Artists -Fawad Tamkanat , Stanley Suresh, Laxman Aley and Hanumantha Rao . The exhibition was titled CROSSCURRENTS. The curators selected eminent Danish artists along with young and promising Indian artists to blend experience with youth.
