DESCRIPTION

Shrine Empire Gallery is an amalgamation of two art entities- The Shrine Gallery and Empire Art. The gallery was envisioned as a platform for presenting and promoting contemporary visual art practices. Prior to the merger both have worked together on several shows in India and Singapore.

For over a decade The Shrine Gallery with Shefali Somani at its helm has dedicated itself to exhibiting and nurturing emerging talent, the gallery has constantly enhanced the quality of its shows to mirror the prevalent aesthetic traditions.

Anahita Taneja had founded Empire Art in 2006 and is now the director of Shrine Empire Gallery. She is a well established consultant for Indian Contemporary Art and has been providing her collectors, investors and first time buyers very professional and clear advice in building their art collection.

Together they have collaborated with artists whose works have been considered groundbreaking, for shows that include:

• Meandering Membranes – An exhibition showcasing works by contemporary Indian artists, with an introduction by Sushma K. Bahl exhibited at The Taj Bengal, Kolkata.

• Shifting Terrains/Altered Realities – A group exhibition of contemporary Indian artists whose work has influenced emerging trends in Contemporary Indian Art, conceptualized by Anupa Mehta exhibited in Singapore.

• India Art Summit 2008 – Exhibited 7 emerging artists whose work has been associated with the gallery.

With their merger Shrine Empire have several shows planned with artists who will define the Contemporary art scenario in India.
