Art Alive Gallery opens the season with a collection of small format works by India’s leading artists. This show is the second in the series of ‘Think small’, following the success of its first show, four years back.
Think small! second edition brings back a show which is all about viewing the power of ‘small’. By inviting artists who represent different moments of contemporary Indian art to converge around a small format, the idea is to let the diversity flourish within a formal constant.
The show brings together 30 artists to create works in a size not exceeding 24” x 24”. These artists have taken up the challenge, been creative and bold in being able to render the intimate details in the small format.
The show is an attempt to revitalize and turn to the scale of small, in contemporary art, which has been engrossed in larger and wider expanses. It provokes the creator, the artists to present to viewers their aesthetic and conceptual concern within a technically restrained space without compromising on their individual style.
Despite the small format running across all the works as a common thread, the artists represent a variety in their mode of expression from most classic abstraction, narrative style to photorealism.
