You design the booth.
You select the artists.
You choose the artworks.
We mount the exhibition at one of the world's major art fairs.
ArtSlant's first Curator's Open invites all curators and artists to apply to curate our booth at EXPO CHICAGO this September. The winning curation will be selected by our panel of influential curators including Independent Curator, Audrey Illouz and Maiza Hixson, the DCCA Gretchen Hupfel Curator of Contemporary Art. Our panel is overseen by EXPO CHICAGO's Director of Programming, Patricia Courson. Read more about the panelists here.
Curator's Open is a different model of fair curation.
We want to open up a curicial access point to the art market: the art fair. As our ArtSlant Prize approaches this goal from the perspective of the artist, Curator's Open asks our users to conceptualize an entire exhibition to be presented to an international audience of art buyers and art lovers.
The sky's the limit - now get those creative juices flowing and start thinking inside a three-walled box!
There is a $15 administrative fee payable upon submission. Acceptance of the proposal by the selected artists is a requirement for the proposal to be reviewed by the panel. When the proposal is submitted, an email is sent to artists that were included within the exhibition asking for permission to be included within the exhibition. They have one week to reply.
