AKV|St.Joost ’s-Hertogenbosch / Breda offers bachelor and postgraduate courses in fine art and design. Today’s society calls for creative professionals, experts who possess not only groundbreaking views and ideas, but also the ability to express these in meaningful images. The dynamics of their working environment are coloured by many specializations and opinions. The need for professionals who can work together with other specialists is acute.

 

Which is why:

- the interconnections between specializations play an important role;

- all the teaching staff have a background in the professional working environment;

- the programme is constantly tested against current professional practices;

- various elements of the study, such as projects, excursions, and work experience, take place outside the academy;

Breda

Location Breda is housed in a former seminary, which stands in its own park on the edge of the town. It is a versatile environment, which remains in constant contact with the outside world through the wide variety of teachers and visiting artists and designers, who give classes there. The academy works closely with cultural institutions in the town, including Museum de Beyerd and Lokaal 01.

Hertogenbosch

Location ‘s-Hertogenbosch – a stone’s throw away from the train station – is a transparent building with an open and attractive structure. The building is in fact a permanent working, and exhibition space. The academy maintains close ties with cultural institutions, such as the European Ceramic Work Centre and the artists’ initiative Artis.
