Chicana artist Nova Gutierrez paints about the life, death and afterlife of her aunt Lisa Ann Rodriguez, who at 20 years old was murdered by her husband in South Texas in 1979. Inspired by conversations with female family members, newspaper articles and letters, Gutierrez's work explores the lingering emotional effects of her family's loss.
