Statement
Born in Beijing in 1955, Hong Ling received his BFA in Oil Painting from Beijing Normal University in 1979. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts with an MFA in Oil Painting, and has been an associate professor there since 1987.Based in the magnificent Yellow Mountain area in Southern China, Hong has devoted over 30 years of his artistic career to capturing the unique Chinese landscape on canvas. He believes that a good painting needs to use theshanshuilandscape technique to interpret the heart. Hong's work is a true reflection of Chinese humanism, combined with exquisite Western oil painting techniques. In being seenas Chinese shanshuilandscape, rendered in oils, Hong’s works merge Eastern and Western artistic practices into a unified creative concept. Thus does Hong stand out as one of the leading contemporary Chinese landscape artists.
