As a photographer, filmmaker, and video artist in New York, I explore social and identity issues, aim to preserve moments in time, and focus on displaying my images in alternate ways. The themes and topics of my videos works come from triggers in my environment and my thought process. My criticism of society’s obsession with beauty began after a residency in Miami where I noticed an excessive number of women with plastic surgery. I created works that used humor, performance, animation, and viewer participation to point out the absurdity of plastic surgery. After recent political events, my videos began to focus on the threat to women’s reproductive rights. Now, I am creating a multi-channel video installation on the topic of domestic violence which will premiere in Chicago October 2014.
