I have been painting since 1998 in acrylic and mixed media on canvas
and, more recently, in encaustic (wax and dammar resin) on wood panels or paper.
Studying Interior and Textile Design in the early eighties, I then
travelled, living abroad for the next 17 years in Italy, Mauritius, U.K and
South Africa, all of these influences being reflected in my love of vibrant
colour and texture which lends a distinct vitality to the work.
Since moving to the Wairarapa in 2007 I have developed a heightened awareness of the
subtle changes in nature through the cycles of the seasons and the passage of
time, the landscape and its abstraction becoming the subject of my work.
Mixed media as collage, acrylic, metal leaf, shellac and oil pastel is
used evoking the mood of the seasons, resulting in vibrant and playful works, strong in their use of both form and colour.
I currently work from my studio in the South Wairarapa.
