I see you have found the best way to talk about Painting is with Sculpture. The “3Dification” of the two dimensional process of painting is a rich vein of culture relevance. The process and history of Painting is so rich and integral to the human species it is well worth a position as Content in art work. It is a uniquely human activity to make visual marks. Though the first 3D paintings were created by Frank Stella before A.W. found Pop, there remains much unexplored territory to be found and original work to be made. As far as Pop is concerned, the realization of Celebrity as Content was profound and important when A.W. first said it in the ‘60s. However, the documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop demonstrates this movement ( Pop ) has little room to grow and is currently the venue of ignorant hucksters. It is true “there is nothing new under the sun” but the line between Derivation an Revelation must be found for work to be Art.
Dsc_0001-1 Thank you, Dov
I appreciate your kind thought. I am indeed making a slow but good recovery. My husband is not Israeli, but he did live there as a teenager -he spent a great deal of time in yeshiva. We do currently have seven young nieces and nephews in Jerusalem. We're planning to visit for the eldest's bar mitzvah next year. Zie gezunt! :)
Dsc_0001-1 Hey Dov---
Thanks very much for asking about me. I've been inactive on artslant because I've been ill for some time- its a rather permanent neurological condition, and it is currently somewhat exacerbated. I'm not creating much, but I'm OK. I hope to be more active soon. I hope you are well and happy. Your work is as intriguing as ever. My husband's Hebrew name is Dov, by the way. :) Take care - and warm regards, Krista Levy
Dsc_0001-1 Love the originality of your work...
and "Ode to HENRI" is beautiful. Best regards, Krista Levy
