Art historian and theater practitioner and curator with several institutions last of which was the Chelsea Art Museum in New York where he launched the East West Project which consists of three exhibitions ItaliaArabia, Iran Inside Out andWalking through Walls 11/9 to 9/11.
Sam also teaches Middle Eastern Art and Culture and Performance Art at the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. His work focuses on the role of the arts in cross cultural dialogue and on new directions in museum practices.
Sam has worked as a curator with several foundations such as Fondazione Volume in Rome, the Goethe Institute in Berlin and Tashkeel in Dubai. He was invited lecturer at Columbia University, Oxford University and La Sorbonne. He has also collaborated on creating partnerships and public programs with renowned arts organizations such as Sotheby's, The Nasser D.Khalili Collection, The New York Public Library, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Rooftop Films, Artnet, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, The Farjam Collection Hafiz Foundation and many others.
Sam is currently working on a book on "Art and Collective Identity in the Middle East" and a new theater production "Blood" at the Cherry Lane Theater in New York.
