As a reaction to the selfie phenomenon in social media, there has been an opposite trend to hide one's identity…to present a no-selfie of sorts. For some time I also had been seeking a way to combine my abstract imagery with the figure. Perhaps also because two of my favorite art movements are Graffiti and Futurism, Oneiros came about as a synthesis of these things. Oneiros, as the embodiment of a dream, seemed to fit with the anonymous, non-identity of the abstracted and polygon-ized face of my daughter, which resulted from many separately, digitally collaged, abstract elements. I imagined her as the very embodiment of a dream, and eventually in the most layered image, her identity nearly ceases to be recognizable. My emotions and imagination are childlike and full of wonder. I find it easy to believe or make-believe, and I think this shows up as a fantastical element in my work.

I follow in the footsteps of artists/printmakers such as Donald Judd, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler, and Wade Guyton. Digital printmaking enables me to use the same thought processes of traditional printmaking without the toxicity of using traditional materials on a daily basis.
