Unique, surreal, street, macro and everything else in between...

Like most everyone else, I like to look at clouds and imagine seeing forms and shapes that resemble fantasy characters, animals etc. When I had nothing else to photograph I started to point my camera upwards and just randomly photograph clouds until I decided to experiment with digital painting to create interesting abstracts. This at least, is a infinite source of photography potential and since clouds can literally change in seconds - 'unique photograph' isn't just a overused cliche'...it will never be captured again on any other moment in time or day.


"Capturing life as it happens" - passing by on a moving motor vehicle on the rural roads and on busy urban streets at that particular moment when it will be most memorable and tell a story even if it seems none is to be had - create something out of nothing in life; both a challenge and equally intriguing to myself seeing what I photographed when I sometimes have only split second to react without the comforts and repeatability of in-studio work.

Collection of fine art photography taken on travels throughout South Africa. Everyday life of ordinary people in towns, cities and rural areas, spontaneous roadside shots, road signs and road works plus other nature, landscape and wildlife as well as construction shots as we approach the 2010 world soccer and the preparations being made to host this event - interesting and offbeat photos you will not see in any travel brochure.

As for other genres of my photography I have no real means to describe it as it borders on the surreal, abstract and thoughts I try to capture and create as I go through exploring the art of light also known as photography...


The ultimate goal is to bind my fine art photography street photos in book form to give a broad perspective view of Southern Africa and all it's different cultures living side by side - there is after all more to Africa than just it's wildlife and picturesque nature scenes; let's not forget the people living in it and how we shape this continent for better or worse.
