Lisa Gizara is a Fine Artist and Photographer. Educated at the University of Massachusetts in South Dartmouth, Gizara has been a freelance artist & photographer for over twenty years. Her photographic work has been published internationally on billboards and in numerous publications including People Magazine, Variety, La Weekly, LA Times Magazine, Wired, and many others.
Lisa's artwork has appeared in numerous film and televison shows. AMC's award winning series Madmen purchased three paintings last year and they are prominently displayed in Roger Sterling's office. Other series include Warehouse 13, Californication, Castle, Fringe, House & Brothers and Sisters.
Lisa's photographs of the 16-year-old sailors Zac & Abby Sunderland have appeared in vitually every major newpaper in the world. Her images were distributed by three international news services including Reuters and appeared on the Today Show, The BBC, PBC and US news broadcasts. Her portrait of Abby appears on Abby Sunderland's memoir entitled "Unsinkable" being published in spring of 2011 by Thomas Nelson Publishers.
Lisa’s extensive work with the international public relations agency Roger’s & Cowan has included film and television stills work, as well as the portraits of many celebrities. Gizara’s fine art photography is in numerous private collections in Los Angeles, Boston and New York City. She has been awarded two grants from the Massachusetts Arts Council to document the small town she grew up in- Westford, Massachusetts. Her camera has led her on travels around the world including Indonesia, France, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, California and throughout the United States. Her most recent attempt at a trans-Pacific crossing aboard a 48’ Ketch is yet another photographic essay in the making.
Lisa has also taught Abstract Expressionist painting to youths incarcerated in the Los Angeles juvenile prison system. She has been a private tutor to gifted children intent on attending prestigious art schools including The Otis Parsons School. Lisa presently lives in Santa Monica, CA with her husband Eric Lorn and three four legged, furry faced family members.
