Eros has been painting since he was 8 years old.

Early on, Eros' mother understood his intuitive artistic abilities and she enrolled him in one of Tijuana's premiere art schools, "La Casa de la Cultura." There, Eros began exploring the world of fine art.

It wasn't until Eros moved to the United States, however, that his artwork began to express his own personal view of humanity and spirituality, and, in 2001, he began to seriously focus his vision on a world that he believes is at times locked in illusion.

Perhaps the true power of Eros' work is his ability to see beyond perceptional reality. His paintings often employ countless symbols and signs that tap into a greater collective consciousness, forms that depict the archetypal realm lying just below the skin of everyday ordinary awareness.

Three prominent artists have influenced Eros' artistic vision: Salvador Dali, Fridha Kahlo, and Francesco Clemente. Eros explains, "I'm attracted to these painters because they claim their position and express it through their art."With Dali, I'm drawn to his surrealism, of course, and to his erotic qualities, too, but I'm also drawn to his humanitarian philosophy. With Fridha Kahlo, it's the autobiographical elements, for sure, and with Clemente, it's his compositions."

Eros' drawings are particularly expressive, a spontaneous interplay between form and content that some say uniquely captures the subjects at hand. Others say the connections and cross-references between Eros' autobiographical content and his portraits of life are attributed to his own fantasies and fears. Someplace in between the two may be where the truth is actually found. That is, what becomes evident is that something we might only admit as our own experience in private has suddenly been exposed for all to see.
