Martina Voigt-Schmid, born in Frankfurt a. M., loves colours and playing with them in the composition of her paintings. Figures and the empty space between things, ornaments, prints - everyday things, as well as patterns like stripes and dots - inspiration comes from various sources. An intrinsic mix of reality, thoughts, feelings, dreams and impressions are layered, partly veiling each other, leaving room for each person to see and perceive different things. Her painting Prof., realist artist Bernd Schwering once said, her paintings are like flying carpets, taking you to a world in between worlds.
Martina Voigt-Schmid has shown her work in various exibitions in Germany and Switzerland, Locarno, where she worked with a gallery (casa d'arte) for many years. Currently, she's involved in editing a young parenting magazine in Germany, KidsLife, but wants to hang on to her own "flying carpet"!
