Susan was born and raised just outside of Manhattan on the Jersey side of the Hudson River. From a young age, she found inspiration in New York's rich art scene by wandering through galleries and museums. In college Susan studied drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and art history. Studying Renaissance works in Florence, Italy, further enhanced her education. Susan's paintings are inspired by a combination of Asian, African and ancient Greek and Roman figurative artworks. She utilizes a layering technique of glazing bright acrylic paints with torn paper and mixed media. The bulk and tonalities of each figure are constructed of many layers underneath.
Susan moved to Los Angeles in 2001 and has been thoroughly enjoying the West Coast ever since. Susan's paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows in the New York area and Los Angeles including the Barnsdall Art Center and the bi-annual Getty Underground show.
