Statement

Hi there.
All of my projects are experiments in unconventional presentations of familiar media. I view painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, etc as fields with terms that can be inverted, internally reordered, or transposed with one another to create things that are entirely new without abandoning conventional forms.

Since graduate school I've been studying the constituents of painting, and all their various intersections with those of sculpture.

Below are also some 2005 investigations of drawing and painting. These are part of a series of "shower drawings"--I took sheets of paper into the shower with me in the morning and coated them with ink or gouache and then let them dry while attached to the wall. This process made some beautiful images and pissed off my landlord, who kept my deposit.

Other series of works are at www.zacharystadel.com
