> STATEMENT
I am a collage artist.

I mainly create personal commissions, and mostly of people's album cover collections, although I have collaged anything of a repetitve nature -- be it concet ticket stubs, matchbook covers, movie ticket stubs, event laminents, etc.  I make personal pieces, totally individual and always providing a visual sense of accomplshment  for my clients.

It's called
RECYCLED ROCK, because one painfully boring evening (that spanned into an entire month), I made myself a huge collage of all my CD album cover sleeves, throwing in a few LPs, and cutting a few small images out of books.  I painted on it, slathered it in resin, and hung it on my wall.  The response was totally unexpeted.  Suddenly I had people in my living room having crazy conversations based on "MY" music - curiously, it was "THEIR" music too - and I began hearing fantastic stories about the first time they heard Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon, and how they got really high and stared at the stars, listening to the sounds through an old-school boombox in their parents' backyard.  Or how they had to sneak away to their friend Jeremy's house because he had cool parents who didn't care if they listened to N.W.A.  Or how much it hurt when they heard that Jeff Buckley had disappeared, or when Kurt Cobain committed suicide.  I've heard all about road trips, and journeys - to physical locations and mental states.  I always knew that music was powerful, but it goes far beyond the actual listening experience.  We truly have soundtracks for our lives.

Album cover art has provided some of the most prolifically used and widely recognized images of the past 50 years.... reflecting the unique character of the bands and their music.... becoming tangible, visual equivalents to their sound.... often serving as cultural barometers, giving glimpses into the social climates and times in which we live.... these images have become personal to us, capturing the indescribable love we share for music.
RECYCLED ROCK is a collage of your music, your journey...a visual representation of what surrounds your memories and shapes your life.

Please email me for more details on personalized commissions.
If you're missing album covers because you threw them away, or your crazy ex stole your case logic, or you buy all your music digitally now and you don't own actual, physical covers...it's ok.  I got you.  I have resources.
I use canvas and wood, resin and acrylic
