Artist Bio
July 2009
Owen Geronimo honed his skills in Gail Teshima’s art class
in Honolulu Hawaii. Having won consecutive regional
awards in high school, his angst and frustration immediately led him to start
anew in Alameda, CA upon finishing high school.
A twist of faith changed his dream to attend California
College of Arts. He became a young father at eighteen. He diverted his goal to
providing for his family instead. His part-time art studies in the late
eighties continued his passion for the arts, but was not realized until ten
years later when he actually unveiled his work to the public at his first solo reception
at 619 Post in San Francisco. Shortly, an involvement in a group show at The
Warfield Building followed.
In the mid-nineties, Owen started an online magazine with
his friends aptly called Pop-tart, where local artists were featured monthly.
With this venture, he was able to strike out on his own to start Vision +
Visuals Art Group, a very popular Yahoo group for local artists.
It was just a matter of time before he began representing
his fellow artists and became an art curator. He produced the first group art
show for the San Francisco Arts Council at the San Francisco Chamber of
Commerce. Another successful group show was held at the original Studio Z
location on Mason Street
in San Francisco.
During this time period, Owen Geronimo held a weekly art
event called 2xDutch at 839 Geary. He created a monthly art circuit and took
the art event concept to various locations; Studio Z, Bohemia Lounge, Optical
Underground and 839 Geary to name a few. That was in the mid to late nineties.
Owen Geronimo abandoned his art roots to concentrate on his
real estate career and entrepreneurial ventures for the most part of 2000. He
is now concentrated on social media business strategy and international luxury real
estate sales.
He reincarnated his artistic passion to join The Inferno
Show at Space Gallery in May of this year. He’s currently involved in a group
show at the Barber Lounge this August in San
Francisco. His love of art is undeniably present in
his new works.
