After producing the last two works I have found it necessary to update my 'Artists Statement'.
The visual is a language without concept.
What I experience in my art work is that conceptualisation is secondary to the visual experience.
There is a constant interaction with detail and simplicity. A process of elimination from complexity to simplicity. The over all result is intuitive feeling based. A feeling that constitutes strength.

Present day street art appears to have its main emphasis on concept and technique but as yet lacks the maturity one develops when the artist goes beyond this. Again what is art?....is it craft (mass production, technique, use of materials) or is it Art which is all that has been mentioned and that extra ‘thing’ which is not a thing?

Picture this...a man sitting on a bench under a tree in a natural setting. In front of him is an azure coloured lake of clear clean water.
He sits here looking at a flat screen. His mind is totally taken by this screen and nothing else. When he looks up, he sees the beauty around him and immediately has to relay this to the screen. He takes a photograph and posts it onto his screen.
In his minds eye, he imagines that people like him are interacting with him. A whole network of activity going on.

selling art through the internet

Given how sales of artworks over the internet have taken off over the past year and a half, I have noticed the one important factor about marketing that works every time. The amount of times that which you want to sell, gets exposed to a potential buyer.
This leaves artists in somewhat of a dilemma because given the trend to buying most products over the internet, our art works becomes a product. And not only this, our art works get bought because of the amount of times they have been viewed. Which... [more]

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The art work is a reflection of the beholder.
These factors are what I explore in abstract painting. My process of painting involves expressing the creative impulse of the moment , through the use of gestural mark making.

what leads the attention away from objects in space

Something about being on the computer a lot is that the attention is constantly taken by the screen. The brain gets into the habit of relating to an illusion of space on a flat screen.
Who is to say that this same image is not the very image we have whether computerized or not?

The knowing
The background was painted in with a broad brush stroke, filling the space with large areas of similar colour, everything else was painted with single strokes of various flat colours. This application was spontaneously brought forth, fitting in to the situation at hand, from having run low on ochre colour and having to use economically, the little that was left. How I use oil paint on canvas

Using a quality pre-primed medium textured canvas that gets purchase in a ten metre roll.This is then cut to required size and stretched onto wooden stretchers. I make use of quality commercially prepared oil paints. It seems that, given the manner in which my day unfolds, there doesn’t appear to be much time to prepare my own alchemical oil mixtures. And this is where technology has stepped in.

An object is defined by the space around it and space is defined by an object in it. The one cannot do without the other. As a concept, there are two. As a reality, it is one. Space is entirely empty and entirely full simultaneously in reality, thus it is One(non-dual). Conceptually, it is split into two (duality).

In modern human society, all objects and their interpretation thereof, have been derived by using language that has its basis firstly in mathematics and secondly in the ‘feeling'. With not much emphasis placed on the ‘feeling' of an object, the interpretation thereof gives way to what is called logic. Which means that first the thought rises, then the feeling.
