Artist’s Statement LABOR ( Labor Robert)

 MON MATERIAU c’est LA PEINTURE

MY PAINT MATERIAL is

I METISSE and  I enjoy and try to use

all form of my mental museum

  it is an attempt to use the  Painting allegory, reconnect with a sense of conceptual painting that transcends the materiality of
the work, it is not an abstraction or a figuration, but an attempt for the construction of a certain universality of a plastic writing

Classical Cubism, Impressionism, Dada, POP materials, colors, drawing, archaism, Conceptual, traditional, contemporary, ....hands in the dough,

my Body participates as much as the mind.

After the year 2000  my paintings are always pretexts to “ Installations”

 The idea really took shape during my installations

The report they have them in my opinion more important than their aesthetic values and plastics specific to each of them.

The technique remains however  the foundation of my work as a painter contemporary

 I work both figuration and abstraction and I am not  used  to  mark a  preference in these two areas, that is my inspiration that guides me, feeling, idea to develop or work on random curious discoveries of  the technique; as Picasso said :"it is painting which  command me " I work the senses and the mind open to providence which allows me to go beyond, a little as  the saxophonist in his improvisation .... Analysis comes much later on what I should keep it or not ... "Erasure" has  of great importance ... the Point  zero interests me " le degré zéro de l'écriture" Roland Barthes,

and this is when I create my exposure I am  expressing  my  metissage , if necessary

I reflected currently in an expression of my  protest,  of  our contemporary society in a manipulation of photographic images or paintings images  often performed by myself in the '70s to today ... Photographs made in the form of print on art paper,  metal or plexiglass ... new inspiration that allows me to reread my own creation ... at first sight so diverse.

 But  Painting and Drawing stay however a necessity for me

 Since 2012,I  adopted the idea of re-reading my past work now that everything has changed and  that everything has changed because our outlook on things is not and will not be the same ...  I always enjoyed playing.... and renew myself with my own experiences ...one has not lived 75 years without having somewhat lived...

The digital work allows me a re-composition.

if  in the computer work, painting material and sensuality seem to want to lose .... it  is bringing   another  thinking in a need of the moment ... which gives a certain aesthetic enjoyment of a renewed création
