"Russian Art Week" International Exhibition & Competition of Contemporary Arts

Hi. Welcome to the "Russian Art Week" International Exhibition & Competition of Contemporary Arts, which will be held in Moscow (27 September-3 October, 2009) and St. Petersburg (6-11 October, 2009).
Program and the competition include 6 international contests: 1)Painting Competition, 2)Graphic Competition, 3)Design Competition, 4)Photography Competition, 5)Sculpture Competition, 6)Crafts Competition.
There are two ways to participate for the competition – online (IN ABSENTIA) and in person (INTERNAL WAY).

Hi,
thank you for you looking at my work. Saxaphone Dreams #2 is a manipulated photograph. I am not a painter in the sense of using paint on canvas or paper. My tools are traditional photo darkroom techniques and now digital using Photoshop. I am in awe of painters because of what can be done with a brush and paint and your work is very good.

I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on my piece. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by it being heavy? This is one of my favorite pieces. It was inspired by a good citizen's manual. It had a ton of imagery from the 40's & 50's. It made me think about town meetings and how we interact with each other back then and now. During the particular meeting being depicted, the green girl gets angry with the magenta lady and decides to spit on her. The blue woman is clearly unhappy with what has just transpired and grabs a ______? I wonder what happens next and hope you will too.
Which painting were you wanting me to comment on? I'd be happy to offer any insight. Your statement made me feel really sad. You should exhibit your work. I think it is very interesting. My favorite piece is the family tree.

I think your work really shows the beauty of woman art. You live in Cardiff and St. Petersburg. Did you learn painting in Russia? I'm very interested in Russian contemporary paintings. I really wish I could go to visit St. Petersburg one day. If you live in St. Petersburg, then I may have the connection to visit you one day in St Petersburg.

Thank you for your comments to my painting. My painting doesn't represent "optimistic" at all, in fact, it's totally the opposite meaning. Hong Kong is such a big city with "Economic Boom", however, underneath this wealthy society, there are still a lot of poor people struggling to survive. In my painting, I put a bagger sitting in front of the prosperous city harbour scene to illustrate the contrast of 2 different worlds in Hong Kong.
