Maria Petschnig was born 1977 in Klagenfurt, Austria, and moved to New York in 2003. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the Royal College of Art and the Wimbledon School of Art in London. Her work has been shown at numerous solo and group shows and film festivals internationally. Most recently, her videos were screened at the 39th Annual Nashville Film Festival, Tennessee, USA, Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Germany; The European Media Art Festival, Osnabrueck, Germany; Inside Out, 18th Film and Video Festival, Toronto, Canada; Mediawave'2008, International Film and Music Festival, Gyoer, Hungary; Electrochoc Festival, Rhone-Alpes, France, or at Videolab Caldas 2008, Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.
