Christopher Wool is an American artist. He is best known for his paintings of large, black, stenciled letters on white canvases. He often uses tools associated with commercial image-making: stencils, spray paint, silkscreens, decorative rollers, enamel, and aluminum. Wool's paintings combine the "mechanical" effects produced by such devices with the artist's own hand-painted gestures. Wool provides tension between painting and erasing, gesture and removal, depth and flatness.

Christopher Wool's work has been shown extensively around the world including venues like the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
