by

Chicago, Aug. 2013: Edra Soto does not take summer to mean vacation. She has been hard at work for the past several months making large scale, site specific installations, as well as small, infinitely reproducible sculptures that fit in the palm of your hand. She’s a teacher, but most recently, she’s enjoyed being one of the inaugural students in a new professional development program run by The Hyde Park Art Center. She’s a gallerist whose exhibition space is located in her backyard,... [more]

Taking the title as the theme for the exhibition, the curators Paul Nudd and Scott Wolniak, Chicago-based artists themselves, gathered together over 60 artists who only received basic submission guidelines and then were free to create and interpret the them... Brian McNearney, Edra Soto at Roots & Culture December 11th, 2009 - January 16th, 2010

Easily the weirdest show I've seen in sometime, “Forever Vegetal” pushes the limits of taste, and not necessarily tastefully so. The two-person exhibition of Edra Soto and Brian McNearney at Roots and Culture places two post-disciplinary artists in close proximity, ultimately highlighting their differences.
