Statement

Marcos Chaves was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1961 and began his artistic endeavours in the early 1980s. By using appropriation and intervention parameters, the artist works in diverse media, openly moving between the production of objects, photographs, videos, drawings, words and sounds.

Chaves has shown his artwork at Manifesta7 - The European Biennial of Contemporary Art, Bolzano, Italy, 25th São Paulo International Biennial, Brazil; 1st and 5th Mercosul Biennial, Porto Alegre, Brazil; 4th Havana Biennial, Cuba; 3rd Lulea Art Biennial, Sweden.
