Statement

C A R O L E   d’ I N V E R N O

                                                                  Artist Statement

As an artist I am interested in visually translating the intuitive
connection I feel exists between art and science, creativity and research.
Chemistry, history, mathematics, storytelling, music, poetry,
archeology, astronomy, language, travel, and more, are all a source of
inspiration.
After deciding on a subject, I let the research intuitively guide me
towards imagery. Sketching and drawing at length, I develop visual
systems containing imaginary codes that I will use in the paintings. At this
final stage, the systems and visual permutations morph again to
become free of references. They generate their own worlds many steps
removed from the original subject. With this method I create series that
are unique and different from each other.
This practice allows me the latitude to express all my interests and
to funnel them into art making. The process is ongoing and always present
in my life.
