About me and my work

I live in central Switzerland, in the city of Zug, working as an independent artist. My work is grounded in concrete and conceptual art, but I seek new ways of expression within these domains. My mother tongue is German, but for the sake of international understanding this site is completely in English. You can see my artistic bio in the 'about my artwork' section of my homepage.

My artwork is grounded in concrete and conceptual art, yet I seek to develop new ways of seeing and to move away from geometric dogmatism.

I took classes in drawing, collage, and computer aided design from 2001 to 2005. In 2006 I was visiting the New York School of Visual Arts. From 2006 to 2007, I developed the multi-stage process by which I make my works. Since 2007, I am working as an independent artist.

About how I make these works

It all starts with a sudden vision I have in my head: From one moment to another, I see a motive appearing, perfectly defined, with all the details, colours and dimensions. So all I have to do is to transform what is in my head onto the material.

Sounds easy, but it requires a complicated process of eight steps that I invented. Various complex computer techniques and special machines are required to bring the motive from my inner vision to the real world.

First, I make a drawing or a collage, mostly using pencils, gouache, coloured cardboard, and watercolours. Then, I use a combination of diverse software to alienate these works. This process can take from some days to several weeks. The final picture is then transferred directly onto aluminum plates by UV hardened inks.

By these materials, the final work achieves distinctive, radiating colours. Every work is unique and fabricated only once; all files, sketches, and drawings are annihilated once fabrication is complete.
