Lanell Dike is an artist living in Oakland, CA whose work focuses on inner landscape: thoughts, emotions, memories, opinions and beliefs. She explores how the unseen, unquantifiable and ungraspable ephemera of our inner world creates and shapes our understanding of our selves, each other and the physical world.
She uses a variety of mediums (collage, photography, mixed media, kinetic, installation, book arts) depending on the piece – and her work is categorized more by meaning and message than by medium.
Lanell’s art is deeply influenced by themes of social justice and change. Each piece at its core asks, “What makes us who we are?” and “Why is the world the way it is?” The exploration of these two fundamental questions creates pieces that are universally personal, challenging and original.
