Inspired by the sounds, colors and flavors from her native land Colombia, Diana Suarez’s artwork focuses on the propagation and exploration of her culture and traditions. She is also interested in the connections of the body with its surroundings and how the essence of movement serves as a maximum form of expression. She teaches movement as a way of helping children and adults connect their inner selves with the discovery of their roots. She has performed around the bay area, with numerous groups as well as abroad in Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. Her work ranges from music to dance, theater to performance art and video to new technology based pieces. Her commitment to integrating these art forms inspired her to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Intermedia Arts from Mills College.
