            My large-scale drawings are complex labyrinths, a conglomeration of images from multiple sources that deal with issues of land and water.  I draw the complex diverse geography of water and cultural imagery of various locations, often characterized by perpetual rapid development or historical changes. My drawings are tapestries of fantasy, re-created spaces, environments constructed by accretion, the accumulation of a personal vocabulary of subject matter, flashing images of vegetation, tools, architectural details and natural  elements that depict the relationships among physical space, land and architecture.

            The drawings start as visual puzzles:  I draw at random on the picture plane, re-draw, erase, place and re-draw in a continual process of accumulation to build up imagery. My goal is to make drawing into something else, a reconsideration of land and water through my personal iconography and experimental materials. I want to take drawing off the walls to become an architectural object, a part of the floor, an enclosure or hanging ceiling.
