I have been making paper sculpture since 2006.
The catalyst for this change was seeing dollhouses
created by my aunt with her husband when I retuned home to Japan on vacation.
I realized I really like miniature worlds.
I actually created my first piece, based on Osaka, because I really missed my parents and I felt I could feel closer to them by recreating my hometown.
My early works are patterned after Japan and NewYork,
but now a days I work in a more imaginary works.
Personally, I find myself trying to overcome barriers to getting along with people around me.
This gave me the idea of "Connection Between People" and it is a key theme in my artwork recently. "Connection Between People"...
I takes the form of the word with miniature people.
I fold and glue pieces of colored paper to create 3D effects
with painstakingly detailed miniature paper sculpture.
Making details is the most interesting part for me to produce.
I hope to provide though my work, a happier side,
small happiness and kindness to people though my work.
To make viewers and remind them of the simple joys of childhood..
