Karlos Carcamo

Informed by the influence of urban culture, I create work that incorporates a multi-discipline approach to art making that captures the dynamic energy, movement, and material sensibility reflected in all aspects of the culture. I use this as a base to make paintings, sculptures, and mixed media work that combine my interest in abstraction with an examination of the complex codified language inherent within urban culture. The function that its vocabulary, etiquettes, and oral traditions serve in the creation of a social identity and history. Its influence on popular culture and my own personal observations about the world we live in.
