Jesus Mora was born in 1971 in a suburb near Mexico City. In 1995 studied drawing and painting in “Casa de la Cultura de Chapultepec” and a Community Centre “Unidad Cuahutemoc” in Mexico. Two years later he started his studies in Toronto School of Art. He registered at Ontario College of Art in 2000-2004 in the Drawing and Painting program and travel to Florence, Italy in his third year of the program.
For the past few years he had participated in several art projects, exhibitions, workshops, artist residencies and festivals. His artwork is expressed in paintings, photography, video, sculpture and performance where the ancient iconography (Aztec and Mayan) is an important factor in every one of his pieces. He has collaborated with different art organizations like Red Pepper Spectacle Arts, Art Starts, SAVAC, Urban Arts and LACAP. His effort has been recognized by Ontario Arts Council in several times and in 2011 he achieved the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship.
