Artist Statement

As children we are fun, silly and free.
Adult life is practical.

I have always been unsure where to draw the line between child and adult. If we are now adults, we were once children. But when did this transition occur? It happens gradually, sight unseen.

Art is a physical thinking process where I continue an internal dialog, drawing inspiration from my childhood and practicality from the present time. I explore the ideas of optimism and spontaneity through subjects, color and texture. I am moved by simple line, form, vivid color and texture. I hold tight to my childhood visions, and conjure optimism in the everyday.

Childhood is the source of beauty and innocence in a space where the world is still fresh. I see beauty in the living form, be it human, animal or nature. I try not to take life too seriously.

I believe we all must laugh.
