Margaret Inga Wiatrowski is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist primarily using the medium of drawing to create engraved sculptures, site-specific installations, large-scale murals, constructed photographs and works on paper.

Drawn to spaces of particular ambiguity in diaphanous environments, her work reconciles ideas of displacement and loss in relationship to location, history and memory. With a specific interest in the physical laws and circumstances that brought these spaces into existence, she creates works that often function as trace narratives– following the story of the small, the coincidental, and the invisible, over vast stretches of time. Employing the forgotten past to explore the delicacy of existence, consequence, and entropy, her creative process results in work that expresses both preservation and obliteration, suggesting at once, both the what-was and the what-may-have-been.

Margaret is a recipient of the Chenven Foundation Grant (2014), the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant (2013), and the New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship in Drawing/Printmaking/Book Arts (2011). She was recently a resident at the Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) program at the Bronx Museum of Art (2014) and the Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts Residency in Ithaca, NY (2015). Her work is held in private collections in the U.S., and has been exhibited in galleries and venues throughout New York. Margaret studied at Barnard College, Columbia University (BA, 2001), and Pratt Institute (MS 2004).
