Statement

Belinda Haikes is a conceptually driven interdisciplinary artist, designer, and writer whose work examines digital and social relationships. Her artwork has been included in exhibitions and screenings at the Bronx World Film Cycle  (Manhatten), Lightworks (Grimsby, UK), New Museum's Flash:Light Festival, with Pilottone (New York), The billboard Project (Richmond,VA),The Asian Arts Initiative (Philadelphia), The Los Angeles Center for the Digital Art (L.A., CA), Village Nomad (France), Digital Fringe (Australia), The Weatherspoon Museum (North Carolina).  Recent awards include a residency At Starry Night Residency in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Jury’s Choice Award, Art, Everywhere 2011 Public Art Initiative with Video-Gang,  and she was a 2012 finalist in Digital Graffiti in Alys Beach, Florida.

She is a member of the experimental sound and multi-media ensemble group, Pilottone, as well as the Video-Gang Collective.  Her writings on New Media have appeared previously in HZ Journal, and the New Media Caucus Journal. 

She is currently Assistant Professor of Interaction Design at West Chester University  and is a Digressor for UnderAcademy College, and anti-school that questions the academic model. She has also runs two blogs, Life, the Universe and Art an artist interview blog and the current I Love Mark Making, a studio blog. Currently organizing a summer art nerd camp.
