Born 1948 Newcastle England, self taught with studies in fine art at Ashington College and University of Northumbria Newcastle on Tyne. Worked mainly in oils from an early age, when paintings were realistic depictions of the Northumbrian Landscape. His work has changed and varied over the years from the representational through to the abstract. He has interests in the history and meaning of art and has travelled widely in Europe, with visits to India, Central and North America. He has exhibited over many years with work held by many collectors world-wide.
My work is always evolving, the subject or a particular motif shifting as in a moving landscape of emotions, ideas, experiences and imagination. My painting is an outward expression a creative transitional process leaving space ahead for the spontaneous or unexpected, a freedom to change the way I paint without any set or formulated limitations is important to me. I work in oils on canvas using a combination of techniques with brush or knife. My painting at this time is an encounter with the landscape of my surroundings.
