A beautiful and heavy wooden door fell several feet straight onto my little head in 2012.
I am concussed.
My short-term memory has never fully recovered from the experience. My work is an accumulation of the disconnected memories that float around my mind post-concussion. Snippets of my own personal experience drift side-by-side stories told by friends, family, and acquaintances. These memories are often shortened, confused, and/or lost. Mimicking the confusion of my mind, I combine these personal and shared experiences to create new narratives, textures, colors, and people.
My work also serves as a therapeutic practice for me, letting me immortalize my journey and create memories I would otherwise forget.
