Barbara Bartos is a San Francisco-based, Romanian-born artist. She holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from University of Art and Design in Cluj, Romania.
Barbara’s work ranges from installation, environmental intervention, and sound to drawing and printmaking. Her work has been exhibited in international galleries and museums including Southern Exposure, San Francisco; GenArt, San Francisco; Palazzo Correr, Venice, Italy; Caixa-Ourense, Spain; Modern Art Gallery, Miskolc, Hungary; National Art Museum, Cluj, Romania; and the International Museum of Children’s Art, Oslo.
Barbara is the recipient of many grants and awards among which a Fulbright Fellowship for study in the United States. Her work has won prizes in exhibitions in Hungary, Belgium, Norway, and Romania.
Her work and interviews have appeared on Romania International TV and in ARTnews Extra, Romanian Cultural Institute Annual, Venice, Italy, and San Francisco Weekly. She has been awarded artist’s residencies in the United States, France, Italy, Hungary, and Romania.
