Statement

"My childhood was spent between Sydney, Konongo and the North Yorkshire moors. From an early age I have been influenced by my doll-maker mother, who filled our house with her glass eyes, porcelain bisques and mohair wigs. I painted my first doll's head when I was a little girl, delicately adding each individual eyelash with a Cat's Tongue brush.

Since then I continued my artistic practice by studying at the London College of Communication and the Royal College of Art. Recently I have been funded by the British Council to be exhibited in Belgium, alongside being shortlisted for the Birth Rites Award in February 2013. I have been involved in exhibitions and workshops at the Wellcome Collection, the V & A and the British Museum.

I work across a variety of mediums, ranging from photography to wax sculpture. I am driven by research and literature, which I adapt and entwine to create new multi-layered fictions that frequently revolve around mirrors, doubles and transformations."
