When the body becomes an object, the human desire is seen as an image in a mirror’s reflection. Repressed feelings and thoughts must come to the realisation of the inner self.
My latest work, ‘2 mirrors: An excerpt from Sappho’s poem and the body object’, leads to the question, ‘What have I done my whole life and how am I going to face the truth about my deepest desires?". It also serves as a challenge for the viewer to engage physically and psychologically with the work. It is a play between absence and presence.
