Scott Forrest

I was born in San Francisco and journeyed to Los Angeles at Seventeen to pursue my passion for the arts.

I like to use color and unique materials to create what I call texturalist art.  I'm influenced by everything around me, especially when traveling to exotic and remote destinations where I can soak up the local culture.  On one of my travels I encountered the ancient Japanese technique of Ink Painting, a bold sweeping style which is evident in my work today.  The immediate satisfaction I receive with the one-brush style is that of "the point of no return". You need to trust your initial thought with that swipe of color, it's just so honest and pure. And my minimalist side is easily remembered by the beautiful atolls deep in the South Pacific where the cobalt blues, dripping greens, electric tangerines and bouncing golds are always unforgettable.  And thinking about the icy whites of the Sierra Nevada have kept me mesmerized.  

My political art has graced the pages of Rolling Stone, Newsweek and Spin Magazine and is now within the permanent collection of The Museum Of Tolerance in Los Angeles.
