My name is Sosha Simone Tulloch but I paint under the name Sosha Simone. I was born and raised in Jamaica, where I grew up in the country. I took an interest in drawing from a young age and was inspired by the life around me from dancing butterflies to hummingbirds inches away. Drawing was an outlet for finding my creativity and sometimes reducing boredom. But I was ever so fascinated with the paintings hanging around my home from prints of Salvador Dalhi to local artists. I knew then that I really wanted to learn how to paint. As a teen I migrated to Canada where I continued my focus in high school and went on to study Visual Arts and Art History in University.
Painting is that release of creative enegry where I let go and let the image takes form on the canvas. I don't always have control over what journey the final piece will be because the brush wants to do something else, and I find that to be a revelation that is beautiful.
